But as it happens, that's a pretty good description of Seal-Once Concrete & Masonry Waterproofer from New Image Coatings. Seal-Once uses a unique micro-particle formula that penetrates deep below the surface of concrete or masonry. Once dry, the coating cannot wear off, because it is not film-forming. Instead, its nano-sized particles form a breathable, water-barrier matrix within the porous structure of the concrete.
Unlike silane or siloxane sealers, Seal-Once is safe enough to be used indoors or out. It has no VOCs, no HAPs, and has no adverse affect on indoor air quality. As for its actual performance, New Image can pull out an impressive array of 3rd party independent test results that demonstrate the product's water resistance, vapor permeability, mold resistance, saltwater resistance, and much more.
There is virtually no contractor learning curve; it's actually easier to work with Seal-Once than conventional waterproofers. There are no safety precautions required during application. The coating is odorless and can be applied without the need for ventilation or respirators, indoors or out. It's safe to use around plants, animals, and people. In fact, it's even safe enough to use around fish.
Seal-Once adds no gloss or sheen to the concrete, and the finished surface is paintable. It can be applied to green concrete or on damp surfaces in temperatures as low as 35°. There's no risk of over-appying, and it has a relatively long shelf life, even after opening. It reduces spalling from freeze thaw caused by moisture.
Seal-Once is supplied as a tintable clear in 1 gallon, 5 gallon and 55 gallon containers. The available tint colors for Concrete & Masonry Waterproofer are slate gray, dark gray, and mahogany. The product is warrantied for 10 years on vertical surfaces, and 6 years on horizontal.
